“The ribbon that holds the kite with patience and gentle guidance…”
Meet Kylie
“The Ribbon”
Kylie is a passionate writer and director as well as being a master of management and organisation.
“The Ribbon” that tethers the wild ambition of The Kite and finds creative method in the madness of Holly’s vision.
From performing in musical theatre throughout her teenage years to building StageDoor Studios and Academy from the ground up, creativity and the arts have always been at the heart of who Kylie is.
Her journey within performing arts began on stage, where she developed a love for storytelling, performance and creative expression.
At the heart of who she is, Kylie is a strong and grounded mother raising two fierce young women. Being passionate about creativity and artistry she began as a performing arts teaching assistant for a local performing arts academy run by an old school friend who ultimately turned out to be Kylie’s best friend, wing man, right arm, cheerleader, business partner and soul sister, Holly. She quickly worked up to teaching and thrived on helping young performers grow in confidence, skill and self-belief through theatre and performance training.
Kylie went on to study under renowned acting coach Brian Timoney, further developing her approach to acting, creativity and performer development.
Kylie is also a keen writer and producer having written scripts and devised original performances for students, directed and co-produced productions, and had the privilege of debuting an original role in a retelling of Cinderella with a local Shrewsbury production company, Spellbound.
Ethos & Vision
The StageDoor project has been a vision many years in the making that started one sunny day in Holly’s back garden, whilst drinking tea, when they dreamed of a day their academy would have its own space. The seed was planted and the vision grew.
The journey came with incredible highs, difficult lows and moments where they felt close to losing everything, but the passion behind it never disappeared. That resilience, determination and belief in the importance of the arts is what has brought them to where they are today.
Kylie’s ambition for StageDoor Studios is to create more than just a training space. But rather to build a welcoming and inclusive creative hub for the community — somewhere that makes the arts accessible, affordable and inspiring for everyone. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals and groups who may not otherwise have access to creative opportunities or safe artistic spaces as we increasingly recognise the elitist and ableist attitudes towards the creative industries we encounter all too frequently.
Kylie is incredibly excited for what the future holds and to continue evolving alongside the venue as the team grow a creative community built on collaboration, opportunity and passion to thrive.
